Prayers at home for Corpus Christi

Praying at home on the Feast of the Body and Blood of the Lord.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The cup of blessing which we bless,
is it not a participation in the blood of Christ?
The bread which we break,
is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body,
for we all partake in the one bread. ( 1 Cor 10 : 16-17)

Father, as we gather to worship you,
we are thankful for your special gift of the Eucharist.
Although we are unable to receive the Body and Blood of your Son at present,
make us open to your Spirit,
and so fill us with your life and love,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Penitence

In a moment of quiet reflection we call to mind our sins….

Lord Jesus, you reconcile us to one another and to the Father….
Lord have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you heal the wounds of sin and division…..
Christ have mercy
Lord Jesus, you plead for us at the right hand of the Father….
Lord have mercy.

May Almighty God have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.

Collect and Readings

Almighty and heavenly Father, we thank you that in the Eucharist you have given us a memorial of the passion of your Son Jesus Christ. Grant us so to reverence the sacred mysteries of His Body and Blood, that we may know within ourselves, and show forth in our lives, the fruits of His redemption; who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

We believe in God the Father,
from whom every family
in heaven and on earth is named.

who lives in our hearts through faith,
and fills us with his love.
We believe in God the Holy Spirit,
who strengthens us
with power from on high.
We believe in one God, Father Son and Holy Spirit. Amen (from Ephesians 3)

Lord Jesus Christ, eternal high priest, you have committed to your priests the ministration of your sacraments, help them to do their part in your work with the unfailing gladness of genuine charity…..
Lord Jesus Christ, give us the bread of eternal life.
Lord Jesus Christ, manna from heaven, you make into one all who share in the one bread, grant peace and concord to all who believe in you…..

Lord, remember us in your kingdom as following your teaching we say…Our Father..

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire you in my soul. Since I can not receive you now sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my soul. As though you were already there, I embrace you and unite myself wholly to you; permit not that I should ever be separated from you. Amen (St. Alphonsus)

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.
